Shellie is the Head Judge for this season of Pressure Cooker; she is currently the Head of Department for Culinary Skills at CIT. Shellie has been a chef for over 20 years, and started her journey right here in Canberra studying her apprenticeship at the Green Herring Restaurant. Shellie won the coveted Qantas/Southern cross club Apprentice cook award that took her to Hong Kong on scholarship. She worked her way up to the top in restaurants around Canberra, eventually owning her own piece of Canberra in Terra Ferma Restaurant in Campbell. On a trip around Australia with her husband in an old Bedford campervan, she discovered the wonders of the Australian Alps, worked, and lived in the Victorian ski resort of Dinner Plain for 5 years, working as the Head chef at both the Dinner Plain Hotel and the General in Mt Hotham. Family brought Shellie back to Canberra where she returned to CIT as a teacher. Shellie has worked her way up from a casual teacher to the Senior Educator in Culinary, and is currently working as the Head of Department. Being creative is her favourite thing about cooking, making something amazing out of fresh produce is the best. As a teacher coaching and mentoring students from the beginnings of their apprenticeship, right through to becoming a qualified chef is so rewarding. Seeing those students now in Industry growing and blossoming into their passion each with their own style is absolutely fantastic.
